#MeetTheHustle - JP Burns

What do you do outside of Ultimate?  I work for Aquascape Environmental. My work is just like landscaping except most of our work is done in kayaks.

Name a recent book, movie, tv show, or video game you enjoyed. It, the book, is a wild ride.

How/why did you start playing Ultimate? I started playing my senior year of high school at Brookwood and then it became a lifestyle in college (KSU).

What other sports did you play? I was nicknamed "quarterback killer" in third grade football. No biggie. My high school (Gwinnett School of Mathematics, Science, and Technology) didn't have sports.  Ultimate is my best sport by far. I can't dribble a basketball or a soccer ball well, but ultimate doesn't require you to run and do finesse things at the same time.

What player is your idol/mentor/inspiration and why? My coaches when I first started at KSU: Colin Bellair and Frank Wooten. I owe most of my development as an ultimate player to them.

What is your superpower -most dangerous throw, cut, defensive skill?  The ol' give and go.

What is your claim to fame?  I skied everybody in Austin last year.

Who are your favorite athletes/teams? Russell Westbrook. That man hustles every second he's on the court. Cam Newton. His back is so strong he carried Auburn to a national title. Their confidence in themselves is something I strive for.

Do you have a favorite bad joke? If I had a dollar for every IO flick I've turned over, I'd have a great time at a dollar store.

What would you choose as your "walk up" song? Peanut Butter Jelly by Galantis
