Atlanta, GA – Today the Atlanta Hustle announced Miranda Knowles as Director of Coaching. She was promoted to the leadership role after serving as an Assistant Coach of the Hustle the previous three seasons.
The change is part of an overall coaching restructure. Extending beyond the traditional Head Coach position, Knowles will take an overarching leadership role while empowering player leadership. She will oversee team direction including coach and player personnel, team strategy, and player development.
“Going into my fourth year with the Hustle, I'm really looking forward to taking a role with a more direct impact on the vision and direction of the team. The team has already grown so much and I've loved seeing players mature into on-field game-changers and leaders. Moving forward, I'm excited to work with the owners and player leadership to make sure this a great place to experience ultimate, for players and fans.,” said Miranda Knowles.
Knowles began her playing career in high school with Paideia HS in the late nineties, playing with Atlanta Fetch, and winning Gold with the 2000 Team USA junior national team. Her college playing career included Carleton and Washington while also participating with Club teams Atlanta Ozone, Minnesota Bait, and Seattle Riot. Her decorated playing career includes Silver at 2002 Club Worlds with Ozone, national champion in 2004 and 2005 and Bronze at Club Worlds in 2010 with Riot, Gold with Team USA at Worlds in 2005, China national champion in 2012 and 2013 with Shanghai HuWa, and Gold and Silver in 2012 and 2014, respectively, with Team USA Women's masters national team.
Knowles has 13 years of ultimate coaching experience including Seattle MoHo (2004-2011), Team USA junior national team assistant (2006 Gold and 2010 Bronze), UW (Washington) Element (2006-2008) Seattle Small Fryz (2007-2011), Lakeside HS team (2008), Seattle Academy of Arts & Sciences MS & HS teams (2009-2011), YK Pao School team (2012-2013), Paideia MS & HS girls' teams (2013-Present), Atlanta Hustle (2014-Present), and Atlanta Outbreak (2016-Present).

Knowles graduated from Carleton College with a B.A. in Neuroscience 2004, and received a M.S. in Physiology & Biophysics from the University of Washington 2007. For the past 10 years she has been teaching in the sciences in Seattle, Shanghai, and Atlanta where she currently works at Paideia School. Her immediate family includes husband Matthew Knowles, also a decorated ultimate player, and daughter Madeira.
